Röportaj: "Rumlar Zaruret Doktrinini Kullanma Haklarini Yitirmislerdir" Ahmet Sözen, December 10, 2007
Son dönemde, yıllardır uluslararası gündemi meşgul eden ve Güney Kıbrıs'ın AB üyeliği ile beraber Türkiye-AB ilişkilerinin kilit noktalarından biri haline gelen Kıbrıs sorunu için, 2008 yılının çözüm yılı olabileceğine dair tartışmalar yapılmaktadır. Sorunun taraflarından Güney Kıbrıs'ta Şubat ayı itibariyle seçimlerin sonuçlanacak olması, Kuzey Kıbrıs'ta ise herhangi bir erken seçim beklentisinin olmaması ve Türkiye'nin de seçim sürecini geride bırakması, söz konusu tartışmaların çıkış noktasını oluşturmaktadır. Muhtemel bir çözüm için 2008 yılının önemli bir fırsat sağlayacağı düşüncesi, siyasi konjonktürün değerlendirilmesi yanında, sorunun temel parametrelerinin ve geçmişte çıkmaz yaratan noktaların ortaya konulması ve en önemlisi tarafların sosyal ve siyasi iradelerinin de göz önünde bulundurularak analiz yapmayı gerektirmektedir.
Bu bağlamda Uluslararası Stratejik Araştırmalar Kurumu (USAK) AB Uzmanı Fatma Yılmaz, Kıbrıs sorunu konusunda yetkin isimlerden biri olan Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi Öğretim Üyesi ve Kıbrıs Politikalar Merkezi Direktörü Doç. Dr. Ahmet Sözen ile bir röportaj gerçekleştirmiştir. Beyin fırtınası şeklinde gerçekleştirilen ve sorunun geçmişten günümüze tüm parametreleriyle tartışıldığı görüşmede, muhtemel bir çözüm için gerekli alt yapının sağlanması adına açılım noktaları ele alınmıştır. Tarihi, siyasi, sosyal ve ekonomik gibi farklı perspektiflerden bakılarak Kıbrıs sorununa yaklaşılan bu görüşmede sorunun çözümündeki kilit nokta, güven bunalımının aşılıp halkların inandırıcılığının sağlanması olarak saptanıp bu yönde atılabilecek adımlar üzerinde durulmuştur.

Conference: "Stability in the Balkans: New Developments in Kosovo" by Gregory Macris, December 18, 2007
The Cyprus Policy Center hosted a conference on "Stability in the Balkans: New Developments in Kosovo", featuring Mr.Gregory Macris, Chief of Political Action at the U.S. Embassy in Nicosia. Mr. Macris examined the current US policy towards the Balkans and finally touched on the recent developments in Kosovo. The panel was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sözen, director of CPC and scholar in I.R. Department at EMU.

Conference: "Re-Imagining Cyprus: The Rise of Regionalism In Turkey's Security Lexicon" by Dr. Alper Kaliber, November 8, 2007
The rise of regional level politics and 'regionalisation of security thinking' has been envisioned as one of the main constituents of the post-Cold War security order in international politics. The collapse of the Cold War security architecture rendered the region as the main locus of 'cooperation and conflict for states' and as the most appropriate level of analysis for scholars 'seeking to explore contemporary security affairs' (Lake and Morgan 1997, p. 6).

The director of the Cyprus Policy Center (CPC) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sözen has attended the VIP Policy Summit of The European Union in its Fiftyth Anniversary on 4th of October 2007 in Brussels. The event was organized by Friends of Europe a strong and prestigious think-tank. Prof. Sözen was invited to the VIP Summit as the director of the Cyprus Policy Center (CPC).

Cyprus Policy Center organized a conference, entitled “The Cyprus Conflict: Looking Ahead” at Eastern Mediterranean University. Titles of panel discussions at the conference include “Federalism and Governance in Multi-Ethnic Societies”, “Federalism and Cyprus”, “EU Umbrella: Cyprus conflict in the EU and EU as a catalyst?”, “Intra-Island Dynamics” and “The Latest UN Poll in Cyprus.”
“Energy, Security and International Relations in the Twenty First Century”, Presentation given by Prof. Alan Sweedler, March 26, 2007
Dr. Alan Sweedler discussed the energy issues that have been taking place in the world recently. He spoke about the energy reserves and the amount of energy that the United States consumes along with that of the rest of the world. He brought up the point that energy is very important in the modern world and also shared his ideas on alternative energy resources.
DVD Presentation and Discussion: Identity and Culture. Jointly organized with British Council & Cyprus, March 21, 2007
The -Identity and Culture- presentation explored young South Eastern European peoples ideas about being from that region. The issue of culture and international awareness was explored and discussed among the participants. Next, Greek and Turkish Cypriots were asked to discuss their views of culture and being from a place with political problems the results were interesting.

Issues in the Middle East have been an ongoing subject for years and Samir Al-Taqi, The Director of Centre for Orient Studies of Syria, spoke about international issues and relations. One topic of discussion was the controversy between the United States and Iran.
